Inktober 2018 Day 1
Theme: Poisonous
I drew the goddess Sigyn’s reflection in a drop of what is meant to be venom from the snake meant to torture Loki
Loki: [about Sigyn] I would die for her. I would kill for her. Either way, what bliss.

Sigyn could turn away and leave Him, because there is nothing that Loki can offer Her to ease Her suffering, She could even blame Him for Her misfortune. But Sigyn does not blame Him. She does not complain. She stays. She takes responsibility. Even under the most difficult circumstances She is true to Her heart and Her love.

Sigyn || Norse Goddess of Fidelity
WORK IS STUPID AND LONG but somehow I’ve found a muse in Loki’s wives… There’s not much on Sigyn aside from her catching the snake venom that drips onto Loki after he’s imprisoned for killing Baldr, so I had a bit of free range with the aesthetics! Hope you guys like it! Might post the Angrboda one I made tonight. 🙂

You are not weak just because your heart feels so heavy.
Loki: Imagine if someone handed you a box of all the items you’ve lost in your life.
Fenris: It WOULD be nice to get my sense of purpose back.
Hela: Oh wow, my childhood innocence! I knew I lost that somewhere.
Jormungandr: Mental stability! My old friend!
Sigyn: Kids, could you lighten it up a little?
“No, do not hurt them! They did nothing wrong!”
– Loki, upon seeing his wife Sigyn and their sons in the cave where he is dragged to be punished.
(Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman)
Sigyn is sweet and lovely like a child just as much as She is a strong, fearless warrior. A peaceful warrior with a relentless spirit. Her victory lies in overcoming adversities, not escaping them. She inspires us to be strong and raise our consciousness beyond limiting beliefs, while at the same time staying open and vulnerable, so that we can forgive ourselves and others, and thus be truly free.
“We are all peaceful warriors in training – learning to live with a peaceful heart and a warrior’s spirit.” (Dan Millman)
Sigyn knows the meaning of suffering very well, yet She consciously chooses not to be a victim of it, not to let it bring Her down. She does not complain and She does not hold bitterness. She forgives, She has compassion, hope and patience.
