I just really want to write a book (in fact, I think that I’m going to) where the protagonist is in a wheelchair. And they live in a city where there’s a group of superheroes. And there’s a big, magical, villain because of course there is.
And since they were a young child, this protagonist has wanted nothing more than to join the group of superheroes. Like they’re a huge fan of the group and they just know that it’s their destiny to join.
And one day, when wheeling through the city, they see the group of heroes fighting the villain. And they quickly wheel over and cry, “Let me help!”
But the ‘heroes’ laugh and instead make a whole bunch of ableist remarks.
And so the protagonist has to prove themselves.
And the villain is trying to warn them to stop.
But the protagonist ends up taking their footrest off of their wheelchair and they swing it. And it hits the villain in the side of the face and the villain collapses and groans in pain.
And so the protagonist proudly smiles and turns to the group of heroes.
Because they just proved that they are strong and worthy enough.
But the group of ‘heroes’ still keeps making ableist remarks.
And the protagonist is shocked.
And meanwhile, the ‘villain’ staggers to their feet and is standing next to the protagonist’ wheelchair.
And one of the ‘heroes’ goes too far when calling the protagonist the R word.
And the protagonist and the ‘villain’ just sort of glance at one another.
And the ‘villain’ is just like, “You know…I can zap them for you…if you want.”
And the protagonist hesitates and says, “Yeah, alright!”
One fried group of heroes later, the ‘villain’ says, “Why do you think that I’m always fighting them? They’re all a bunch of assholes.”
And the protagonist sadly nods and starts to wheel away.
Then:
“Hey, do you want a job?”
The protagonist turns at the villain’s remark. And the protagonist mumbles something like, “Oh, come on. I don’t need your pity.”
And the ‘villain’ is like, “Pity!? Do I look like someone who hands out pity!? I don’t pity you! I’m kind of afraid of you, to be honest! I mean…I’m going to have a giant bruise on my face because of you.”
“Yeah…sorry…”
“Water under the bridge! So, what do you say? Do you want a job?”
And the protagonist thinks about it for a minute before shrugging.
And the ‘villain’ is all excited because they’ve wanted someone to work with them for years but no mortal is allowed to ‘step into’ their lair.
And then the ‘villain’ stops and is like, “Hang on…you can’t work with me in that.”
And they gesture to the protagonist’s wheelchair.
And the protagonist is all embarrassed.
And then the villain goes, “Because we can get you a much better wheelchair! It’ll look great! And it’ll be indestructible! And it’ll have all sorts of weapons and gadgets! Hey, how do you feel about flying…?”
And all of that is literally in the first chapter and then the rest of the story follows the two going around the city like BAMFs, forcing people to stop being ableist, one way or another. And maybe it’ll have some commentary on the scale of morality and what it truly means to be a hero and what it truly means to be a villain.
Would anyone be interested in this!?
Because I really want to write it!?
YESSSSS. ALL MY YES PLS WRITE IT
I’D READ THE SHIT OUT OF THAT YES PLEASE
OP HERE!
Man, it’s so surreal to look at this.
BECAUSE I ACTUALLY WROTE IT!
AND IT WAS JUST PUBLISHED TONIGHT!
Of course, there are some differences between the final book and this original idea. The most notable difference is that all of this takes place in the first book (it’s going to be a series!) and the whole ‘superhero’ thing is just going to be a front. There’s a few other differences as well (such as a huge plotline involving Merlin and immortal characters!)

She just got diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer.
She started chemotherapy on Tuesday, 12 May 2015.
She currently has only (U.S.) Medicare for insurance, and there are a lot of things that Medicare won’t cover, or only partially covers. She is 67 years old and on a fixed income. I am a student and work part time at my university, for which I am paid a base $1000/month USD plus my tuition. Between the two of us we make it by on about $2000/month USD, but that was before her diagnosis.
We need your help.
I am raising money to help cover her medical bills and living expenses and any extra costs that we might incur due to her cancer. These extra costs include gas for the hour-plus that we will have to drive for her treatments twice a week, any special dietary needs she may have while on chemo, and that kind of thing.
I am offering to write fic as “thank you gifts” in return for donations to my mom’s cancer fund.
For every $10 that you donate, I will write you 1000 words of fic. (See fandom list under the cut.) Please consider helping us out if you are able to. Even if you are not able to donate, please reblog this post.
Thank you.
If the donate button doesn’t show up (on mobile, etc), please use the email chanceofrainne@charter.net to donate.
I want to begun by thanking everyone who’s donated. The current balance in our donation account stands at about $2000 USD.
Unfortunately we just received the oncologist’s bill for May and June, and our part after Medicare is nearly $3000. This is for 4 chemo cycles. She has to have at least 8 more, plus the surgery and then god knows what else after that.
Please, I am begging everyone, please reblog this again, and if you can spare anything at all to help us out, please do. Mom is really upset about the bill and she’s talking about not taking any more treatments until January when she can get more insurance, but if she does that I’m honestly afraid it’ll kill her.

My friend and her family just moved to NC. Within a couple hours after unloading the moving truck, her husband had a heart attack. Thankfully, he was able to get treatment and is doing well, however he was out of work for several weeks, which put them behind in being able to pay their rent.
To make matters worse, less than a month later, her daughter, starting having seizures again. These were previously under control and have suddenly, seemingly without any reason (all tests results are normal) coming back again.
Due to being partially behind on their rent, their new landlord has threatened to start the eviction process – despite knowing all the hardships they are currently going through.
Any help would be greatly appreciated – even if it’s just a couple dollars. If you are unable to donate, re-blogging would be helpful as well.
Pictured above left: Katherine “Kit” Kerr at age 70. Above right: Kit and her husband, Howard, picture taken at their marriage in 1973. I first encountered Katharine Kerr’s writing in 1986 with the publication of her debut novel, Daggerspell, the opening volume of her much lauded and loved Deverry…
We have set up this fundraiser specifically to pay for care for Howard to allow her to write, either a health aide to come to the house or an adult daycare specifically designed for Alzheimer’s patients. She cannot afford this unless we help. We have set a basic goal of $12,000, which should give Kit 20 weeks of coverage. Any money raised over that amount will go for more of the same.
hi. i’m shyghost. i’m 21 years old and i was in university studying to become a music educator. i also have bipolar ii, adhd, anxiety, and borderline personality disorder.
last year, my depressive episode was so extreme that i was unable to function at all. i barely made it through the school year, and needed to be hospitalized in a behavioral facility in april. over the summer, we attempted to change my meds to get me balanced again, but even with medication updates, i was not well enough to go back to school for this past fall semester.
i’m still trying my hardest to recover, but the next step that would be extremely helpful and worthwhile for me would be to join a day program. the day program is specifically for young adults in my situation who need to be rehabilitated and reintroduced to functioning as a member of society again.
but the problem is, my insurance doesn’t cover the program, and it’s 100 dollars a day. and my therapist told me the only way it would be beneficial to me was if i went for about 6 months or so.
if that wasnt bad enough, soon my health insurance plan is going to be switched and my copays are going to increase from $5 to $20. so now, each month, i’ll need$120 just to pay for my medication alone, not including therapy or psychiatrist appointments.
these expenses are making me so nervous because as of right now i’m unable to work anywhere. :/// i can’t help to pay for myself.
i really hate doing this; i feel undeserving of asking for help, but i know that the faster i can get better, the faster i can move on with my life and get a job to pay for my medications on my own.
until then, i really need help. .___.
i put a donate button on my blog, or if you’d prefer you can send money to my paypal account email: sam-hark@hotmail.com.
i understand there are many people who are in financial situations as well, and i understand that not everyone has spare #money to lend out. if you can’t #donate, please reblog this if you can, if only to spread the word a little bit. please. anything helps.
i’m desperate. this has been happening on and off for years and i just want to be able to function again.
thank you so much for reading this. i’ll be tagging this #dayprogramfunds for my followers if they want to block it.
My amazing friends…I am in trouble and I need your help! I normally like to keep these things private, but it has come to this. I have won my disability case and will be seeing payments in a month or so. Unfortunately, I was served with court eviction papers yesterday and my payments won’t start quickly enough to save me from this. I have until July 10th to come up with $2000 or my daughter and I will go homeless.
I am having a 10% sale that will end on that date, in hope that it will make a difference. Use coupon code SAVINGHOME to get 10% off your entire purchase through July 10th!!! Please help us by buying something beautiful!
Lovely handcrafted jewelry, and at a discount. Help a family avoid eviction, and get something pretty at the same time.
Even if you can’t afford to buy, please re-blog to get the word out. Every little bit will help.
So as of this afternoon, I am officially homeless. I tried to come out of the closet as transgender, and my mom freaked and kicked me out.
I live in Michigan, about 30 minutes west of Detroit. I really need a place to stay and transportation to and from work (I work at my hometown McDonald’s). I…
I don’t think I have any followers in Detroit, but boosting.
For people not in Detroit who wish they could help, follow http://www.transhousingnetwork.com – trans people getting kicked out/fleeing abuse is not uncommon and shelters are not always an option because of either transphobia/transmisogyny on the part of the shelter itself or safety concerns.
OP: hope you find somewhere soon, but if you’re still looking, thn can list your info.
