Born and raised primarily in Northern Virginia, my family and I moved to North Carolina in 2006. Married for over 20 years, my husband and I have two boys and a gaggle of cats.
For me, writing is a great stress reliever. I can let my mind wander and let my emotions run free in a way that is generally not possible in my normal everyday life. My writings run the gamut in terms of style and genre – for instance my first novel is a historical romance set in the Civil War, but some of the other things I have in the works are fantasy or thrillers, among other things.
It probably goes without saying, but my poetry is somewhat eclectic in nature, and again while some may feel the need to stick with a particular form, I tend to write just whatever comes to mind. Let the winds of inspiration lead me on…

Her steps hit the ground with solid thumps, though her legs felt like water. They were going to give, she was sure, they would give and she would fall.
Only the damp, dark stone beneath her would break the fall. And in the darkness she would lose her courage.
You shall be bound to stone…
Her heart raced, perhaps the thumps were not from her feet. Perhaps her heart beat so loudly in her chest that it created the steady echoes the sounded in her ears.
Bound by your own blood…
Sigyn squeezed her eyes shut at the memory. The sound of her sons cries so loud in her mind that all other things were shut out. The pain of the bruises on her arms from being held back became more apparent, stinging as she carried the heavy bowl.
For all eternity…
Silent tears slipped down her cheeks, though she kept her chin high. Her bottom lip quivered, and she blinked away the blurriness of her vision.
You shall feel the pain you caused…
Her pale hand shook as she reached him, brushing his dark hair away from his quickly scarring cheek. Loki’s face was twisted in pain, jaw clenched and eyes squeezed shut. “It will be alright.” She promised softly, pressing a kiss to his temple.
From the jaws of the creature you act like.
The metal was warm from where she’d held it beneath her arm, and she attempted to hold the bowl steady above his face. Her arms raised she kept her eyes down, fear lighting every one of her nerves.
No, now was not the time to be weak, to wish to hide her face. The scar on her calf burned at memories
and fear of the creature above them. Narrowing her eyes Sigyn lifted her head.Harsh eyes met hers, cold and dead to the pain their owner caused. The long and scaly body hung low, the smallest bit of light glinted off its dark skin. She forgot to breathe, frozen so still she was sure her heart had stopped. The steady drip of burning liquid broke the tense silence.
She had to be the strong one, and so she would be. A deep breath filled her lungs, this was not a time to be afraid. And so, she wouldn’t be.

GUYS YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW WONDERFUL THIS IS
Parkinson’s is a degenerative disease and while it’s progress can be slowed down, it currently doesn’t have a cure. People suffering from Parkinson’s will experience a gradual loss of coordination and ability to perform even the most basic of every day tasks, including feeding themselves.
This fucking spoon is HUGEfor them. Look at that gif of the man just trying to eat with the regular spoon and compare it to the liftware device. It’s NOT just a spoon, by the way, it comes with a fork as well, for example.
I found the website for the project where you can purchase a spoon for someone you know/love and even possibly donate money to help someone out who can’t afford it themselves right: HERE.
At the very least, please spread this for all the people who have Parkinson’s or loved ones with Parkinson’s.
You’ll help them take part of their life back.

My dad has Parkinson’s. Thanks for sharing this. I’m going to forward the info to him and my mom! He’s not at this point yet, but since Parkinson’s only gets worse, never better, it’s going to be good for them to have on file.
What Parents of Autistic Children Will Never Tell You
One huge fact that we will never reveal is that we are lonely. We are often on the outside looking in, looking in at both society and our own child, unable in a way to reach both. We are isolated from society due to our caring role, lack of financial support and understanding. We are isolated from our child as we are never truly allowed ‘inside’.
*Note: Autism being a spectrum disorder, I understand too that this doesn’t necessarily reflect how all parents of autistic children feel, or that the behaviors described are relevant to all those who have autism. But – particularly for those who are on the more severe end of the spectrum, it does strike a chord.

Their love is palpable. Their devotion is visible. I have just never. I just cant.
